Grouchy Pants!
My brain is all over the place today! I hate that feeling. I know part of it is that this is the last week before school starts and the other part is that the weather foiled our walk this morning. The illustrator was not comfortable walking with thunder and the threat of lightening...WHAT? Ok, so for safety's sake, no...walk...today. I did get up to do my boxing and muscle toning, but I needed the chat time to start my day. I am spoiled now! It also did not help that I did not sleep well last night. I have been thinking about too much lately. My kids are getting bigger (4th and 7th grade) = scary, we have a trip for a convention in New York in October that I need to book a hotel for (I don't know if you know this about me, but I am cheap), I need to get some illustration work organized, I want to give the kids a good week this week...you get the point. I need a good book to read before bed, so I can think about something other than my own stuff!
Cookies and fruit definitely helped soothe the brain today! I made a batch of vegan gluten free sugar cookies that went over quite well here (there are only 3 left). Is it sad that cookies and fruit make me feel better?
Oh and ketchup and potatoes...that that was the proverbial icing on the cake! I had an omelet too, but that was only because I was being a responsible adult.

Sorry for the grouchy pants! I will be better tomorrow because I am going to sleep tonight!

So, what are your favorite ways to save money for trips? Do you use the discount sites or do you book through the hotel? Have you ever bid on a hotel room? I have before and have ended up with good and bad. I am kinda scared to do it this time!

We're all allowed to wear our grouchy pants from time to time - better thank faking happiness if you ask me! I can certainly relate to having a mindful of thoughts while trying to get to sleep, too - that's how i've been lately! Though don't worry - I am sure the boys will have a wonderful last week at home with you. They know how awesome their parents are!!
And how can you tease us with pictures - those cookies look great!!
Hope you enjoy your night :)

Fruit and cookies always make me feel better!

For vacations, I check prices online (and sites like expedia) and then I call the hotel directly and get the price from them, then I go with whatever is cheapest. Not the best tip I know, and it can be kind of a hassle to check around. I've never bid on a room though, I don't like that it asks for your card info before letting you know the price.

That is not sad. It's my firm belief that cookies heal/fix all.

And I know the "out of sorts" feeling. I blame the weather. The heat is screwing with us all!

Aww, we all have those days (months in my case, lol) Life gets hectic, what can ya do? Nothing wrong with being in a mood now and then. You totally deserve those cookies! :) Food is medicine, so if pleasing your palate helps a little, why not? It all balances out.

We never go anywhere, so that's how I save on travel, LOL. We're going to Ohio in a few week's for Dustin's sister's wedding. Yay. *sarcasm* lol :D

Some days you just need to be grouchy! I'm definitely cheap when it comes to trips (which is why I usually try to go places where I have a couch to crash on), but scour the internet for coupons and discount codes and I've definitely hit the jackpot a few times!

on vacays i have learned NOT to go cheap on true vacays. there is a diff bewteen a nite or two or a weekend quickie trip and then a full scale, buy airline tix, take time off work, and truly plan it type trip. for those, no skimping. I want what i want, goddammit LOL and the times i have gone cheap, ive regretted it. 48 hrs or 2 nites anywhere is deal-able, 7 days is not b/c the time off, airline tix, all the other variables tick in my mind and i hate myself for blowing it.

expedia & travelocity for hotel rooms have worked for me and rental cars AFTER you purchase airline tix or hotels from them..they bundle in the cars so dirt cheap if you need one.

your car story to me, about selling it b/c of the repairs$$ ...ouch!

I definitely use discount travel sites and my AAA membership when I travel. You have to in this economy!

Hope you're in better spirits today!

I hear you on thinking too much. Story of my life. We use priceline (name your own price) for hotels quite frequently. In fact, we did that for the Philly trip and got a 150/night room for 85/night. It was really nice. Hugs to you!

I totally use cookies as comfort food and the time making them to stop my head from spinning!

My travel booking tool to save money? It's called my husband. He is insane at finding awesome stuff for unreal prices. I don't even get involved until decision making time.

I hope today is going better for you!

Oh Sarena, you are most definitely allowed to wear your grouchy pants. We ALL wear them from time to time. Hopefully today you're feeling better already. Ummm, cookies for comfort food?? YES! I am all about soothing myself with a little yumminess every now and then. Right now my drug of choice is the (not gluten free) peach pie Andrew made for me. I've been slowly eating away at it for the past week. So good!!

When I want to save up for something, I figure out how far away it is and how much it will cost - then divid it up by weeks and save x amount per week!

    It works for me :)

Ah your coming to NY!! We should meet up! I have been super grouchy lately too. I like to save money by using cheaptickets and sites like that. I also have a bank account in ING that I put a set amount of money in it each week.
