For Him
These were totally for the illustrator! They are just my go to oatmeal cookie recipe with dates and black walnuts. I love the dates, but he can have the black walnuts!

oooh yum!! I just baked some banana muffins with dates and walnuts (just regular walnuts though - I've never had the black variety before... do they taste significantly different?)

Hey Liz, your muffins looked great! I love dates, but to be honest, black walnuts have a very bitter flavor to them. My husband's parents have a tree in there yard so he grew up eating them. Maybe it is one of those flavors that you have to grow to love??? I just can't get past it. If come across any, just to let you know they taste like they smell. So, if you like the way they smell then you may like the way they taste...not for me! (He's not a fan of tofu, so I don't feel bad trash talking his black walnuts!) He likes them, so I make special treats for him with them.

haha, I think I'll stick to just the regular walnuts, since I'm quite keen on them - so more for your husband! :0)

I'll take this as permission to freely trash talk the tofu!

Now, for anyone with an open mind to try new foods, give the black walnut a try. They're a little more... highbrow than the "regular" variety.
